L. A. Guns to amerykańskim zespół z bardzo ciekawą historią. Powstał w 1983 roku w Las Vegas, a w jego składzie pojawiają się takie osobistości jak Axel Rose, Steve Riley z W. A. S. P. czy Ralph Saenz, czyli funkcjonujący pod pseudonimem Michael Starr wokalista Steel Panther. Był on wokalistą L. A. Guns w latach 1997-1998 i nagrał z nimi EP-kę pod tytułem „Wasted”.
Całościowo, to bardzo udany krążek. Otwiera
go mocny i melodyjny tytułowy kawałek „Wasted”, gdzie obok wokalu wyróżnia się
cudowna solówka. Potem zaczyna się dynamicznie jak w „Heavy Head”, momentami
bardzo nostalgicznie jak w „Well Spend”. Nie brakuje też rockowych ballad jak
„Forgiving Eyes” z rozbudowaną solówką czy spokojniejszej „Jayne ‘98”. EP-kę
zamyka „Cold”, równie mocniejsze, co „Wasted”. Kawałki są bardzo równe i albumu
słucha się bardzo dobrze.
To bardzo ciekawy krążek. Przyjemnie się
go słucha, pomimo trochę surowego i garażowego brzmienia. Wokal Ralpha spisuje
się tutaj idealnie. Słyszalne są wpływy takich zespołów jak Van Halen czy Skid
Row. Na uwagę zasługuje zdecydowanie gitara prowadząca założyciela zespołu,
Tracii Gunsa. Całość naprawdę godna polecenia.
Podsumowując… chcecie posłuchać Russa Parrisha w czymś poważniejszym posłuchajcie Thornbirds czy Fight, a jeśli chcecie Ralpha Saenza posłuchajcie „Wasted” L.A. Guns (podobno też pracuje nad solową płytą). Chcecie tych panów jednocześnie? Odpalcie Steel Panther. W każdym z tym wypadków będziecie zadowoleni.

It was formed in 1983 in Las Vegas, and its lineup has included personalities such as Axl Rose, Steve Riley from W.A.S.P., or Ralph Saenz, also known as Michael Starr, the lead singer of Steel Panther. He was the vocalist of L.A. Guns from 1997-1998 and recorded the EP "Wasted" with them.
Overall, it's a very successful record. It opens with a powerful and melodic title track "Wasted", where the vocals stand out alongside a wonderful solo. Then it gets dynamic with "Heavy Head", and sometimes nostalgic like in "Well Spent". There are also rock ballads like "Forgiving Eyes" with an extended solo or the calmer "Jayne '98". The EP closes with "Cold", which is just as powerful as "Wasted". The tracks are very consistent, and the album is very enjoyable to listen to.
It’s a very interesting album. It's enjoyable to listen to, despite a somewhat raw and garage-like sound. Ralph's vocals fit perfectly here. The influences of bands like Van Halen and Skid Row are clearly noticeable. The lead guitar work by the band's founder, Tracii Guns, definitely deserves attention. The whole thing is really worth recommending.
To sum it up... if you want to hear Russ Parrish in something more serious, listen to Thornbirds or Fight. And if you want to hear Ralph Saenz, listen to L.A. Guns' "Wasted" (he's also supposedly working on a solo album).
