He’s a drummer, he’s a star. He’s a legend. Stix is the ultimate embodiment of the Sunset Strip superhero. A mean, talented and stylish drummer with a distinctive performance manner and some great techniques and up his tattooed sleeves. Stix simply delivers.
Born on December, 25, 1969 in California, Darren Leader (that’s Stix’s real
name for y’all) grew up a musician with outstanding keyboard and drum
skills. His goal has always been to rock harder. Stix meant it, because he
started playing the drums at the age of 9. Heavy metal always ruled his life
and, as a native Californian - he has a perfect taste in music.
Some bands that influence Stix include Led Zeppelin, KISS, Iron Maiden,
Judas Priest, and Michael Bolton. Stix’s primary performance manner
inspiration came from the soundtrack from The Jaws. It was a scary and
fascinating moment in Stix’s life, that has become one of the greatest career
moments.
And then, of course, there was Thornbirds. A famous niche band for the true
connoisseurs, where Stix recorded with Jeff Duncan (Odin, Lostboys, Armored
Saint), Dean Cameron and our friend, and guitar genius from Steel Panther, Russ
Parrish aka Satchel. Then came Metal Skool that gradually morphed into
todays Steel Panther and Stix rocked a bunch of shows. He really
knows his music! From the drum set to the keyboard, proudly wearing a hat
and playing « The Weenie Ride » chords like a pro.
He likes stylish tattoos and sharing a hug at the VIP events or after the
show. You’ll never meet another rock’n’roll teddy bear quite like that, Stix
means metal consistency; he will totally outrock you!

perkusji i klawiszach. Jego celem zawsze było grać rockowo i mocniej aniżeli
inni. Stix wiedział, co chce, bo na perkusji zaczął już ćwiczyć w wieku 9 lat.
Heavy metal zawsze rządził jego życiem, i jako rdzenny Kalifornijczyk, ma
idealne wyczucie muzyki.
Jak każdy muzyk, poszukiwał
inspiracji… sięga po takie zespoły jak Led Zeppelin, Kiss, Iron Maiden, Judas
Priest czy Michael Bolton. Początkowo ogromny wpływ miał na niego soundtrack ze
„Szczęk”. To był straszny i jednocześnie fascynujący moment w jego życiu, który
stał się jednym z najlepszych momentów jego kariery.
Potem, oczywiście, było
Thornbirds. Znany, choć niszowy zespół dla prawdziwych koneserów. Współpracował
tam z Jeffem Duncanem, Deanem Cameronem oraz swoim przyjacielem, mistrzem
gitary, Russem Parrishem zwanym Satchelem. Następnie było Metal Skool, które
stopniowo przemieniło się w Steel Panther i Stix rozbłysnął podczas koncertów.
Jest świetnym muzykiem, a gdy odchodzi od garów, by zagrać jak profesjonalista
podczas „Wennie Ride” dumnie nosi kapelusz.
Jest ogromnym fanem tatuaży i
można liczyć na przytulenie z jego strony na VIP lub po koncercie. Ciężko
spotkać tak rock’n’rollowego miśka, który z metalowym przytupem zwali cię z nóg!
