Czy
czwarty album Stalowej Pantery obniżył muzyczny i liryczny poziom jak wskazuje
tytuł krążka? Trzy lata musieliśmy czekać na koleją chorobę weneryczną jaką
sprzedaje nam Steel Panther w "Lower The Bar". I powiem szczerze, że
w żadnym przypadku nie ma mowy o spadku poziomu.
Jak
to mówią: "kiedy wyrzucą Cię oknem - wbij się drzwiami". Albo na
odwrót... I tak wita nas "Goin' In The Back Door". Czasami błotniście,
ale za to niesamowite wrażenia, gdy frontowe drzwi są zamknięte. Świetny
koncertowy otwieracz, jak i płytowy. Nie ma czasu na nudę, bo zaraz mamy
zaserwowane "Anything Goes" z charakterystycznym riffem. "Poontang
Boomerang" został dodany ostatnio do setlisty zespołu, co jest świetnym
pomysłem, bo kawałek od razu zostaje w głowie. "That's When You Came In"
to kolejna akustyczna zagrywka, by laski szybciej zdejmowały bieliznę i
śpiewały z cyckami na wierzchu wzdychając do zespołu (nie jestem laską, ale
chyba działa).
"Now
the fun starts" jest nieco... dziwny i stylistycznie totalnie inny od tego,
co tworzy Steel Panther. Cholernie przypomina mi dokonania Tool'a. Za to
"Pussy Ain't Free" wraca na tory z zadziornym riffem i refrenem.
"Wasted Too Much Time" to chyba jeden z moich ulubionych kawałków na
płycie. Czuć mocno Thin Lizzy. Przy "I Got What You want" i "Walk
Of Shame" widzę tańczące dziewczyny na rurze – to idealne kawałki do klubu
ze stripteasem. Płytę zamyka mój faworyt, czyli cover Cheap Trick "She's
Tight". Steel Panther przyzwyczaiło nas do robienia świetnych coverów, ale
tutaj to czysta uczta dla uszu. Obok "Fantasy"... TOPKA!
Odsyłam do przesłuchania albumu,
ponieważ z płytami Steel Panther jest jak z chorobami. Każdy ma swoją i nie
warto się zabezpieczać, bo nie można złapać ich ponownie.
Did the fourth album by Steel Panther
lower the musical and lyrical level, as the title of the album suggests? We
had to wait three years for the next venereal disease, that Steel Panther sells
us in "Lower The Bar". And I'll be honest and say, that - in no
case - there is any talk about lowering the bar here; on any level,
the album's still got it going on!
As they say: “when you're thrown out of the window - kick in the door!” Or vice versa... And that's how we're greeted with "Goin' In The Back Door". Sometimes it's messy, but what incredible experiences - when the front door is closed. A great show opener and a killer album track. There's no time for boredom, because we're immediately served "Anything Goes" with it’s character specific riff... “Poontang Boomerang” was recently added to the band's setlist which is a great idea, because the song sticks in your head right away.
“That's When You Came In” - is another
acoustic trick to get the girls to quickly take off their underwear and sing
along with their boobs out, swooning over the band (I'm not a girl, but I guess
it works). It’s another one of those acoustic numbers, designed to get the
crowd going, especially the ladies. "Now the Fun Starts” is a bit... weird
and stylistically totally different from what Steel Panther usually does. It
freakishly reminds me of Tool's work. But "Pussy Ain't Free” gets back on
track with a sassy riff and chorus.
“Wasted Too Much Time” is probably one
of my favorite tracks of the album. It's got a strong Thin Lizzy
vibe. With “Got What You Want” and “Walk of Shame”, I can see the girls
dancing on a pole – these tracks are perfect for a strip club.
The album closes with my favorite
piece, a cover of Cheap Trick's “She's Tight”. Steel Panther has accustomed us
to making great covers, but this one is pure bliss, for the ears, of course.
Alongside “Fantasy”… TOP NOTCH!
I recommend listening to this album,
because with Steel Panther's records, it's like with diseases - everyone has
their own, and it's not worth getting vaccinated or using protection, because
you can't catch them again. For real, it’s like catching some kinda bug -
everyone's gonna get infected in their own way, and you can't help but come
back for more!
